DEVICE PAIRING
Add a playlist without typing it on the TV.
Txcc can receive playlist details from this website through a short-lived, end-to-end encrypted transfer. You need physical access to the player because a temporary key and six-digit code are shown inside the app.
Before you begin
Update Txcc to a version that includes Add from website. Have the source address or numeric Txcc DNS code and the credentials issued by a provider you are authorized to use. Keep the app open throughout the transfer.
Connect the device
- On the TV or phone, open Playlists and choose Add from website.
- Wait for the QR Code, temporary device key and six-digit code.
- Scan the QR Code with your phone, or open the secure pairing page in a current browser and enter both values exactly as displayed.
- The key and code expire after ten minutes and stop working after too many incorrect attempts.
- Enter a playlist name, username, password and source address or code, then select Encrypt and send.
- Keep the player open until it confirms that the playlist was saved locally.
What the encryption protects
The browser creates a new AES-256-GCM key and encrypts the playlist details before upload. That key is itself encrypted with a temporary RSA public key generated by the selected device. The server receives only the encrypted package and cannot decrypt it. The private key remains in the running app and is discarded when pairing finishes or is cancelled.
Short-lived by design: an unused session lasts up to ten minutes. After submission, the encrypted package is kept in memory for up to two minutes while the device collects it. A successful device acknowledgement deletes the session immediately.
If the code does not work
Check that the temporary key and code have no missing characters, confirm that the app still shows the same code and generate another code if it expired. A server restart also cancels pending sessions; no playlist is lost because nothing is saved until the app decrypts and validates it.
Shared devices
A paired playlist is stored by the app on that device. Do not add private credentials to a shared or untrusted TV or phone. Remove the playlist or clear app data before giving the device to someone else.
